About Stop Stroke
Our Story
Patrice Koffi, President and Founder of Stop Stroke, has been a dedicated Stroke Certified Registered Nurse (SCRN) and Stroke Champion for over 15 years. He is an active member of the World Stroke Organization (WSO), the American Heart/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA), and the American Association of Neurosciences Nurses (AANN). He frequently attends several stroke conferences throughout the United States, namely the International Stroke Conference (ISC), the Neuroscience Nursing Annual Conference, and the Advances in Stroke Care. His ambition is to optimize patient care through exposure to innovative research and leading evidence-based practice in stroke nursing. Patrice is a trusted resource to his peers and provides training, education, and in-services to them as stroke nursing constantly evolves.
In his travels back to his beloved country Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Patrice realized there was a need for awareness and access to resources for stroke. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), stroke is a leading cause of death and disability in Côte d’Ivoire, accounting for about 9% of deaths in the country. This fact sparked Patrice’s idea and inspired his passion for Stroke. Migrating to the United States and majoring in nursing, he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master’s Degree in Nursing Informatics. Then, in 2022, using the knowledge and expertise gained through clinical practice and continuing education, Patrice decided to create Stop Stroke, a 501(c)(3) public charity organization.
Through his experience as an SCRN, Patrice has learned how devastating a stroke can be to patients and their families. He also witnessed the challenges of navigating the healthcare system and finding the resources and support needed to aid in their family member's recovery. Determined to prevent others from experiencing the same pain and hardship, Patrice began researching stroke prevention and advocating for greater awareness and education about Stroke. He uses this knowledge and joins Stroke Support Groups to inspire and uplift this community. Since that day, he has seen many stroke patients survive and overcome their disabilities or become stroke-free, bringing him a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction. Stop Stroke is an organization founded on a passion for stroke nursing that raises awareness, improves understanding of stroke risks, and ensures proper education about stroke care in all communities.
